The Five Reasons Why You Aren’t Exercising

Why aren’t you exercising? I’ve heard all the excuses. Heck, I’ve MADE all the excuses.
Exercising hurts! I don’t have the time! I’m not athletic (or I’m not the athletic type)! I’m clumsy and I’ll injure myself. I just don’t have any self-discipline. Exercising has never done anything for me.
Are you ready for a surprise announcement? ALL OF THOSE EXCUSES ARE LEGITIMATE! I’m not going to poo-poo any of them. What I am going to do is, I’m going to tell you how to get around those issues. Let’s look at all those excuses one by one.
Excuse number one— Exercising Hurts— Nearly everyone has heard the phrase, “No pain, no gain.” So they think that when then exercise, they’ve got to push themselves to the point of being uncomfortable, and beyond. I’m going to tell you, don’t do that! At least not in the beginning. While I can’t promise you it will feel like swinging in a quilted hammock, there are ways to get physical benefits without making yourself too uncomfortable. But there’s one main thing you need to remember— even if it hurts at the beginning, it gets better! A LOT better. After a couple of weeks, the simple routines you slogged through at the start will seem like nothing. A month later, you’ll be looking for more exercises to challenge yourself with. Trust me, the vast majority of the pain goes away, and I’ll show you techniques to lessen it even more. If you want the pain, we’ll show you how to get some of that, too.
Excuse number two— I Don’t Have The Time To Exercise— This is a big one. There’s lots of activity associated with exercise. You think you’ll have to buy and put on the right shoes, the right clothes, the right equipment. Then there’s the sweat! You feel like you need to take a shower right after. So much trouble! While the right shoes, the right clothing, and the right equipment can make the process go more smoothly, they’re not always necessary. And the better your conditioning, the less you’ll sweat. One way to help beat this excuse is to make access to exercising easy. I’ll show you ways to do that. As well, I’ll show you exercises you can do while you watch TV or surf the internet.
Excuse number three— I’m Clumsy and I’ll Injure Myself— You don’t have to do complicated or dangerous exercises. And no matter what kind of exercising you do, it will make you more capable and coordinated. I’ll give you several types to choose from that will take care of all the requirements for each category.
Excuse number four— I Just Don’t Have Any Self-discipline— It’s normal to slip back into our lazy routines. They’re easy, they’re familiar, and we know how we’ll react to them. Part of the problem is that for a lot of people, exercising has been only been all about the pain, and they stop before they see any gains, so they think it’s useless for them. I’ll show you a no-pain start-up system that will get you moving and keep you happy doing it.
Excuse Number Five— I’ll Never Be Like Those Super-fit People I See On The Videos— There are people who have been gifted with muscles and stamina, and if they work they can hone those natural gifts to an amazing degree. Good for them, but that’s not me, and it’s probably not you, either. But you can improve on where you are now, and that’s always a good thing. Make your goal to increase your abilities, and when you see progress, that will give you the boost you need to keep going.
Take heart! You CAN overcome all these challenges, and become a better you. Many of the approaches I’ll outline in this blog will be unique, and if the traditional approaches haven’t done anything for you, maybe I can. I’ll certainly do my best.
